The job market seems tougher than it has ever been. The key to maximising your chances is spending your time on the jobs best suited to you.

LinkedIn and Indeed are packed with roles written in Dutch or that require Dutch, and neither lets you filter by the language a job actually requires. At most you can filter by the language the ad is written in, and plenty of English ads still ask for fluent Dutch further down. They also only show a fraction of the market: many entry-level roles live on company career sites and hiring systems most people never find.

starterwork is made for internationals fresh out of a bachelor's or master's and ready to take on the Dutch job market. It was started by one of them: an international graduate who sent more than 100 applications in Amsterdam, most to jobs that quietly required Dutch or had already closed.

Where we search

Everywhere beyond LinkedIn and Indeed: the career pages of hundreds of companies hiring in the Netherlands, the hiring systems they post on (like Greenhouse, Workday and Recruitee), and job sites that list smaller employers and recruitment agencies. Opening all of those one by one, every day, is the most tedious part of job hunting. We do it for you and only show what fits.

How your matches are made

Every day at 08:00 we collect new entry-level jobs from company career pages, hiring systems and job sites.
AI reads every posting in full, including the Dutch parts, and removes jobs that need Dutch, years of experience, or a degree level you don't have.
When you upload your CV, the AI reads all of it: your studies, internships and what you actually did there, projects, skills and languages.
Then it reads each job against your CV, judges how well you fit that specific role, and writes one line on why. "Your FP&A internship and Mandarin match their China reporting work" beats a keyword match.
Your list is sorted by that fit, best first. New jobs are matched to you every morning at 08:00, ready when you open the site.

Questions

Why pay if LinkedIn and Indeed are free?

Keep using them. starterwork covers what they miss: roles posted only on company sites and hiring systems, already filtered for Dutch requirements, degree level and whether they're still open. It saves hours of reading postings you can't apply to.

How do you know a job doesn't need Dutch?

We read the full posting, including the Dutch parts. "Dutch required" or "een uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal" removes a job. If Dutch is just a plus, the job is kept, with a label, so you decide.

Can you promise zero dead links?

A company can close a vacancy minutes after a check, so nobody can promise zero. We re-check every day, show when each job was last verified, and re-check instantly when you press "Report closed".

Who is starterwork for?

International students and graduates finishing or holding a bachelor's or master's degree, in any field, who want their first job in the Netherlands and don't speak Dutch. Each job also shows whether the employer considers applicants who need a work permit.

I'm not from the EU. Can I use it?

Yes. Set your work permit in your profile: EU citizen, Dutch residence permit, orientation year (zoekjaar), student permit, working holiday visa, or needing sponsorship as a highly skilled migrant or with an EU Blue Card. If you need sponsorship, each job shows whether the employer is on the IND's public register of recognised sponsors. Students on a student permit see a reminder of the 16-hours-a-week limit during term. If you graduated in the Netherlands, the orientation year lets you work for a year without sponsorship.

What happens to my CV?

We read it once to fill in your profile: degree, fields, languages, skills and the kinds of roles you fit. Then the file is deleted. We keep only that profile, never the file, your name or your contact details. Uploading a CV is optional; the filters work without it.

Do you apply for me?

No. Mass auto-applying gets internationals rejected. We find the jobs worth your time; you send a proper application on the company's own site.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Every plan starts with 3 days free, with full access: upload your CV, see every match and why it fits you, and apply. Cancel within the 3 days in your account and you pay nothing.

What happens after the free trial?

Cancel before the 3 days end and you pay nothing. Otherwise your plan starts: €6.99 every month, or €17.97 for 3 months or €29.94 for 6 months upfront. After those first 3 or 6 months, you keep the same low rate (€5.99 or €4.99) month by month, and can cancel anytime.

starterwork ("we") helps international graduates find entry-level jobs in the Netherlands. This policy explains what personal data we use, why, and your rights under the GDPR (AVG).

Your work-permit setting is used only to show which jobs suit you. We don't ask for nationality or passport details. If you upload a CV, it is read by our AI provider (Anthropic) to fill in your profile and is not stored by us or used to train AI models. Your name and contact details are never saved from it.

Who we share it with

Only providers that run the service for us, under data processing agreements: hosting, database, AI processing and payments. We never sell your data and never send it to employers. When you apply to a job, you do so on the employer's own site.

Where it is stored

On servers in the European Union where possible. If a provider processes data outside the EU, we rely on the EU's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

Account data until you delete your account, plus up to 30 days in backups. Payment and invoice records for 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires it.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to or restrict its use. Email privacy@starterwork.nl and we'll reply within one month. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

1. The service

starterwork shows job postings from employers' own websites and hiring systems, filtered for international graduates. We don't employ you, recruit for employers, or apply on your behalf, and we can't guarantee you'll get a job.

2. Accuracy

We check postings daily, but employers can change or close them at any time. Job details come from the employer; always check the posting on their site before applying.

3. Your account

You need to be at least 16. Keep your login private. One account per person; don't share or resell access.

4. Free trial and payment

New accounts get a 3-day free trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, your chosen plan starts: €6.99 for 1 month, €17.97 for 3 months or €29.94 for 6 months. These are final prices with no extra fees. The 1-month plan renews every month. The 3- and 6-month plans are paid upfront for the first period; after that they continue month by month at €5.99 or €4.99 a month until you cancel.

5. Cancelling and withdrawal

You can cancel anytime in your account; access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. During the first 3 or 6 months of a longer plan, cancelling stops it from continuing after that period. After that, it ends at the end of the current month. As a consumer you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. By starting your subscription you ask us to begin straight away, so if you withdraw within 14 days we refund the unused part.

6. Fair use

Don't scrape, copy or redistribute our listings, or use automated tools on the site.

7. Liability

We aren't liable for decisions made by employers or for content on their websites. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the past 12 months, except where the law doesn't allow this.

8. Changes

We'll email you at least 30 days before any change that affects you. Dutch law applies.
